Common Fence Music presented the 5th Annual A Gathering of Fiddlers and Fishermen on Saturday, January 31st with Master of Ceremonies, Jim McGrath. Jack Wright, area fiddler, accordion and whistle player hosted the Irish Session.

The venerable Jim McGrath has been a mainstay of the Newport folk scene for over 30 years and is the leader of area favorites, The Reprobates. Jim is a sensitive and robust vocalist who draws from a large catalog of maritime and Celtic songs.

This event, sponsored by the Sakonnet Fish Company of Portsmouth, was indeed the best "Gathering" to date.
