A Gathering of Fiddlers and Fishermen is our annual open mic tribute to the sea. It is a full night of local talent starting with a traditional Irish "Seisiún" where musicians gather for an 'unplugged' jam session of Irish tunes. The Session starts at 6:30 and is open to Irish and Old Time tunesmiths and singers. A steady parade of musicians follows at 7:30, including some fiddlers and some fishermen. And, some are even both!

The kitchen stays open throughout the evening serving up bowls of homemade chowder and chili, and freshly baked desserts. Galley specialties: Flaherty Charter Chowder and Lyon's Sakonnet River Chowder, will be at the top of the menu once again this year along with Commons UnCommon Chile.

Jack Wright, this Gathering's Master of Ceremonies, has been playing Irish traditional music for over 20 years and is well known at sessions from Fall River to New Haven. Originally a fiddler, he also plays penny whistle, button accordion and harmonica, and is known to warble a song or two. He plays with area bands Killaloe and Perrotti and Wright and hosts a session at Celtica in Newport once a month. A native, Rhode Islander, Jack currently lives in Jamestown.
