The Board of Directors and Volunteers of Common Fence Music are pleased to report a very successful Membership Program, which was initiated in the 17th season that ended in May, 2010. Our special thanks to the almost 100 folk music enthusiasts who became Common Fence Music members and "took the chance" on our fine list of performers, some of whom had never been heard in Rhode Island before. The 17th season is now history, but we’ve been hard at work lining up folk and roots music groups for our 18th season. In addition, the board has agreed to the renewal of the Membership Program, along with a special incentive for joining this year! Common Fence Music continues to be the best choice for music entertainment in the area! Our traditional picnic series at the community hall in Portsmouth will continue as in past years. These shows are especially designed to encourage the sharing of a picnic dinner (the folk tailgate) before the show. The Common Fence Point community hall has an added bonus: adjacent free parking! In addition, we have started the Common Fence Music at Channing Church series with three terrific acts: Eliza Gilkyson, an Austin, Texas-based folk musician; Dala, an acousticfolk two-piece musical group, made up by Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther, both of Scarborough, Ontario; and Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, returning for their third performance at Common Fence Music. Newport’s Channing Church is conveniently located, and larger than the Common Fence Music hall in Portsmouth. What does Common Fence Music Membership give you this season? First the good news: the annual membership fee of $55.00 is the same as last year! Members can select three (3) tickets from the list of picnic series concerts on the downloadable application form. Now the other good news: the form includes two of the Channing Church series acts in the membership list! Please download and fill out the application form, indicating the number of memberships, the concert(s) you wish to attend, and the number of tickets for each concert. Like last year, the application form also permits you to purchase additional tickets, including Channing Church series shows, along with the three you choose as part of each membership. Please mail the completed form and your check or money order to the address indicated. And please let family members and friends know about this opportunity. Tickets are limited, so sign up early!
