Roy is a serious student of American music including the blues, R&B, Ragtime, and Country. All of these influences can be heard in his own versatile picking and singing. And he enjoys telling a good story too - with a generous dose of humor. Back in 1967, he took some guitar lessons from Rev. Gary Davis. They became friends and he was invited to go on tour as Davis' driver and traveling companion. In the early 70's he searched for and found the old Carolina medicine showman Pink Anderson. Roy always enjoyed Pink's humorous songs and the two men quickly became good friends. Folks seem to take to Roy. You will too. This will be Roy's second stopover at Common Fence Music.
