Hearing cowboy songs and folk artists like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell
influenced Tom to take up songwriting. He cut his teeth in skid
row country bars in Vancouver and along the way moved to New York
where he left music to focus on writing fiction. In 1981, The Grateful
Dead's Robert Hunter, convinced him to return to music. He has a
number of albums and the co-production of a dozen more to his credit.
His songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Jerry Jeff Walker,
Nanci Griffith and Ian Tyson, among others. His most recent album,
Borderland, reflects the culture of the El Paso-Juarez region
and explores gender borderlands as well as cultural ones. Accompanying
Tom will be his long time partner and acclaimed guitar wizard, Andrew
Hardin.
