    Aine Minogue
    Saturday, December 20, 2003 - $18

Born in Borrisokane, County Tipperary to a large musical family. Aine discovered her true love - the harp - at age twelve, which she decided to pursue in lieu of all other instruments. After completing school she spent three years developing her talent as a harpist at Bunratty Castle, County Clare - the perfect setting to emphasize the harp's lyrical connection to Irish history.

Aine Minogue captures the very essence of Irish music. Her delicate voice reflects the lyricism and richness to be found in the music, mythology and poetry of the Celtic tradition. Her humor, often self-effacing, is full of charm. And the harp playing of this "All Ireland" champion is unparalleled. She has entertained former Irish Presidents and Prime Ministers and she is a regular performer at folk festivals and concerts throughout the country.

In the last few years, Aine's production company, DruidStone, has allowed her to widen her musical scope. She now produces albums in several styles including Celtic, World, Folk and New Age. DruidStone is also allowing her to add to an already impressive solo soundtrack discography.

Aine has been performing an annual "Winter Solstice" concert at Common Fence Music since the series started in 1994. This will be her tenth visit. Her performances are simply mesmerizing.

This year's Winter Solstice falls on Monday, Dec 22 2003 2:04 AM EST.
