Cheryl is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice and a fantastic
sense of humor. Some of Cheryl's songs are emotional portraits
of people, others are hilarious situation comedies. She will follow
a funny story with a song that leaves you wiping the tears from
your eyes and when she
gets on her soapbox the comedian is never far behind. "Politically
correct" is not a concept that Cheryl has much use for. Any
sacred cows grazing around the stage will be slain. Many of the
comic "ditties" are not recorded and can only be heard in
concert. Her entire
concert is an emotional roller coaster.
This will be Cheryl's fifth appearance at CFM.

Opening act: Bertrand Laurence

Bertrand Laurence is a French fingerstyle guitarist that came
to singing, too shy to ask others to sing his songs. He has been
teaching and performing American
guitar styles for half his life in the US.
This recent Rhodes Islander
performs French songs influenced by early American jazz folk,
blues, and swing. American songs are
translated in French (and vice-versa), a feature that opened for
him the doors to the Montreal Jazz festival, and the Lafayette
Festival
International. But, expect also
straight instrumental guitar, and stories from his adventures in
this country that include writing and directing children's theater,
advocating for the homeless, and
nasty habits like being a French mime in the USA. (but yes, he’s cured now.)
Bertrand was also a big hit at this season's Fiddlers
and Fishermen.
