Trained in voice and violin, Tracy Grammer was playing clubs and
cultivating an interest in studio production when she heard Dave
Carter perform in February 1996: "Here were stories that
could stand alone as poetry, sung with compassion, intelligence,
and a hint of Texas twang. Dave's entire presentation felt
like home to me. I knew instantly that I was in the presence of
greatness; I knew I had received my calling in life."
Her
bond with Dave Carter was a life long personal and musical journey
which ended abruptly with his early passing. Flowers
of Avalon (Signature
Records - Jan. 2006), continues her exploration of his work. The
album, which will become fused to your cd player, has been garnering
critical recognition as a masterpiece. Tracy contributes as co-producer
as well as vocalist and ulti-instrumentalist. Mary Chapin Carpenter
who appears on three cuts on the album writes: "Tracy's
continuing quest to make sure that the world remember Dave Carter
marks a new beginning of artistry for her. We are lucky that she
is so brave, generous and gifted."
She will appear with multi-instrumentalist,
Jim Henry.
