    COMMUNITY HOOT ARTIST APPLICATION INFO
    submissions accepted january 25-30

Common Fence Music invites you to apply to perform in our first ever Community Hoot! This is an opportunity for us and the CFM audience to discover new or unfamiliar local talent. Ten acts will be chosen to perform in the event which will take place on Saturday, February 8th, 2020, 8pm at CFP Arts, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth, RI. Each act will receive a 2-song or 10-minute set. After all have performed, the audience will vote and one act will take home the title of Audience Favorite!

Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on Thursday, January 30th. Accepted artists will be notified on or before February 1st.

Who can apply?  Keeping in line with CFM's programming, we will accept submissions from artists or groups of no more than four members who perform music under the folk, roots and world music umbrellas. You may not apply if you are already booked for another CFM performance.
    • For American folk artists: We are not looking for cover artists.  Preference will be given to artists who perform original material. The only exception to this rule is for those artists who represent historic American music traditions and mainly perform tunes from a canon of traditional music (i.e. Civil War songs, Gullah music, old Appalachian tunes, etc.). Sorry - Bob Dylan does not fall within this category.
    • For world music artists: We will accept artists who represent any music culture from around the world that is traditionally performed acoustically.

Can I apply with more than one group?  Yes. If you are a solo artist who also performs in a duo and a four-piece band, you may submit separate applications for all three. However, only one of your applications may be accepted for the event.

How do I apply?  A link to an online application will be available on both the home and event pages of the CFM website from January 25th-30th, 2020. The following info will be required in the application:
    • Artist/Group name
    • Contact name & email
    • Number of performers in act
    • Instrumental/vocal configuration of act
    • Where can people go online to find info about your act? (Website, Facebook, Bandcamp, etc.)
    • At least one link to an audio or video performance sample
    • List of highlights of most recent performance experience (past 1-2 years)
    • Artist/Group short bio (6 sentence max.)
    • Hi-res photo of act & photo credit
    • Tech requirements and/or stage plot
    • Food allergies or dietary restrictions of group members

What do I get if I am accepted for the show?  In addition to a 2-song or 10-minute set, each individual performer will receive CFM's legendary hospitality (dinner and drinks), green room privileges, and two complimentary tickets to the show.
