SOL Y CANTO & ALISA AMADOR - POSTPONED
SATURDAY, MAY 02, 8pm - CHECK BACK SOON FOR A RESCHEDULE DATE

CFP Arts, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth
Picture
Featuring both a rising young folk artist and the family ensemble that influenced her, this show is one of the most special CFM has presented to date. The music of singer-songwriter Alisa Amador is a synthesis of the many styles she has voraciously absorbed: rock, jazz and alternative folk, all wrapped in the spirit of the Latin sounds she grew up with - specifically those of Sol y Canto, the Latin band founded by her parents. With beautiful, soulful singing, poetically incisive lyrics and syncopated rhythms, the music of this wonderfully versatile performer is likely to make you cry, laugh and dance all within one set.

Sol y Canto is the award winning Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and bongo player Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador. Featuring Rosi’s crystalline voice and Brian’s lush Spanish guitar and inventive compositions, Sol y Canto is known for making their music accessible to Spanish and non-Spanish speaking audiences of all ages. Their original songs are distinguished by poetic, often quirky lyrics set in a framework of varied musical styles with surprising twists. Rosi and Brian are often joined by their daughter Alisa, whose powerful songs and gorgeous, supple voice have launched her onto the Boston singer-songwriter scene.

Seasonal dinner plates, fresh soups, and our signature selection of baked goods and beverages will be available for purchase from the CFM kitchen. For those who wish to carry in their own fare, this show is BYOB and picnic.

CFM Members are invited to join us for a pre-concert reception from 6:15-7:15pm. Singer-songwriter Ric Allendorf will perform while complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres are passed. Ric uses music as navigation, discovery, and anchoring. His songs, while personal, feel intuitively familiar. The listener is guided by an ease that is steady and supportive as a mast. Whether performing solo or in collaboration, Ric's playing style gravitates toward unique voicings, percussive frailing, and meticulous fingerpicking patterns that honor his influences – early folk & blues, singer-songwriters of the 80s and 90s, and traditional Celtic and British fingerstyle players.

This show will take place at the CFP Arts, Wellness and Community Center, in Portsmouth, RI. Venue is fully accessible by lift. Handicapped parking is available adjacent to the building.
This is a BYOB & Picnic venue.  A selection of seasonal soups, baked goods and beverages will be available for purchase from the CFM kitchen.
